Erison Hurtault

Those with even a slight knowledge of Heps Track know about Erison Hurtault. Quite simply, the 2007 Columbia graduate is the most dominant 400-meter runner in League history, as evidenced by his claim as the only Ivy runner to win the same event in eight straight championships (indoor and outdoor). The Heps recordholder both indoor (46.34) and outdoor (45.40), he was an NCAA finalist and All-American in both seasons as a senior, taking third at the Outdoor Championship.

Hurtault also competed in the Olympic Games in Beijing, representing the Caribbean nation of Dominica. Since earning his degree in economics, he has trained and competed internationally and served as an assistant coach at Florida State. The Aberdeen, N.J., native also helped create a stir at the Penn Relays as a senior, when his 4×800-meter relay team, anchored by the excitable Liam Boylan-Pett, defeated the nation’s elite programs to earn Columbia’s first Relays’ Championship of America in seven decades.
