Earlier Action In Arkansas

The earliest Ivy League competitors at the NCAA Track & Field Championships did not advance to finals. Here is a look:

Men’s Hammer Throw — Princeton senior Alex Pessala fouled on his first two qualifying attempts and threw a disappointing 59.77 meters (196-1) on his final attempt to finish 20th in the prelimaries. He did not qualify into Friday’s final.

Women’s Hammer Throw — Brown sophomore Brynn Smith and Dartmouth senior Emily Daly closed out their seasons in the qualifying round. Smith was 18th with a best throw of 55.82 meters (183-2) while Daly was 23rd with a toss of 54.28 meters (178-0).
