To me, it seems like February in Spokane, Wash., might be a tad chilly for the USA Cross Country Championships, but then again I won’t be there. Yet a number of former Heps standouts will be as American recordholders Dathan Ritzenhein and Shalane Flanagan look to repeat as national champions. But national titles aren’t the only thing on the line as qualifiers for Team USA at the IAAF Worlds in Poland will be determined as well.
Among the former Heptagonists scheduled to run are Columbia’s Delilah DiCrescenzo, Cornell’s Max King, Columbia’s Thomas Kloos, Navy’s Aaron Lanzel, Cornell’s Toni Salucci, Harvard’s Darin Shearer, Dartmouth’s Jarrod Shoemaker and Princeton’s Michael Spence. Shoemaker, a 2008 Olympic triathlete, is pictured. Also among the favorites in the masters’ race is 1992 Dartmouth graduate Ray Pugsley.
If we missed anyone, give me a yell.
