The goal of the Crimson men this season has been to improve upon their 2009 season … And so far, they’ve been able to do that … The team defended their Battle of Beantown title (by winning the meet by a comfortable margin) and beat Yale at HYP for the first time in Coach Jason Saretsky’s tenure at Harvard … That prompted Saretsky to offer, “I think we have a pretty well rounded team [this year]. We are competitive in all of the events.” … Junior Brian Hill (Oradell, N.J.) has already qualified for IC4As in the 500- and 800-meter runs, while sophomore Darcy Wilson (Stratford, Ont.) has qualified for IC4As in the 800, 1,000 and mile events … It will be fun for the coaches to determine who will run what event in Dartmouth … With the additions of senior Justin Grinstead (Orillia, Ont.), sophomore John Dingus (Mission Viejo, Calif.), freshman Jeremy Gilmour (Stockport, England), or fellow rookie Jeff Homer (Calgary, Alb.), the Crimson can have strong 4x400m and 4x800m relay squads … His background in water won’t help him at Heps, but Gilmour is an accomplished triathlete back in the United Kingdom … Sophomore Steve Geloneck (Houston, Texas) will challenge for the title of the fastest Ivy male with his top-five time in the 60m dash … Frosh Kenneth Wang Kan (Singapore) is a double-threat in the jumps, where he has won both the long and triple jumps in the last two meets he has competed … His distances have improved in each meet … “[Wang Kan’s] a great competitor, a real special talent,” Coach Saretsky told The Crimson earlier this month … Senior co-captain Jack Brady (Downers Grove, Ill.) is having his best indoor season, where he is in the top five in both the weight throw and shot put … Junior Ablorde Ashigbi (Tyler, Texas) has potential to score points for the Crimson after throwing his season’s best in the weight throw at the annual HYP meet in mid-February … Junior Dan Chenoweth (Genesco, Ill.), the Heps cross country individual champion, and senior Chas Gillespie (Wilmette, Ill.) may not have competed much during this indoor season so far, but do not leave either out of the equation for the 3k or 5k runs … Chenoweth in the reigning indoor champ in the 3,000.
