Coach Gwen Harris has the disciplines covered … Sprinters? Check … Middle distance? Sure … Distance? Ready … Jumps? Vault? Throws? Yup, yup and yup … Starting with the sprints, Penn has two of the top runners in school history with sophomore Leah Brown (Virginia Beach, Va.) and junior Kali Strother (St. Louis, Mo.) … While Shaunee Morgan holds both the 60- and 200-meter dash records, Brown is second all-time in the 60 (7.65) and Strother second in the 200 (24.84) … Strother is also ranked in the short race as well as the 400, one of three Quakers who have run sub-57 this winter … With sophomore Paige Madison (Ann Arbor, Mich.) and senior Jamie Massarelli (Paxton, Mass.) joining Srother, Coach Harris can also put together a formidable 4×400-meter relay … Massarelli is also a threat in the 800 as is senior Anna Aagenes (Doylestown, Pa.), who was a close second to Yale’s Kate Grace at Outdoor Heps last year … Leslie Kovach (Irwin, Pa.) is the top freshman distance runner in the League this year, posting top-10 Heps times in both the 3,000- and 5,000-meter runs … Her times of 9:46.54 and 17:08.46 are both ranked sixth all-time in Penn history … Sophomore high jumper Kristen Judge (Tewksbury, Mass.) and senior pole vaulter Liza Lozovatskaya (Daly City, Calif.) are both in position to score points as they are in a compacted group following a distinct leader — Columbia’s Monique Roberts in the HJ and Princeton’s Tory Worthen in the vault … Senior Kathryn Gevitz (Oak Park, Ill.) is a rare horizontal jumping talent … In fact, if she can add another four inches to her personal best long jump, she’d be only the second person in Quaker history with a 19-foot long jump and 39-foot triple … The other one was All-American Karyn Smith 16 years ago … So that leaves the throws where freshman Charlotte Pope (New Rochelle, N.Y.) is making a lot of noise … She has put the shot more than 40 feet and the thrown the weight more than 50 … That makes her a threat to score in both events.
