Last year the Princeton Tigers did something never before achieved in Ivy League history as Peter Farrell’s women finished in the first five spots and recorded a perfect 15 at the Heps Cross Country Championship in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.

Liz Costello won the third time, followed by sophomore Alex Banfich, who would break the school record in the 5,000-meter run in the spring.

Recently Bill Alden of Town Topics caught up with Banfich, who is preparing for the cross country season by running in and around Paris.

“I’m doing an internship through Princeton teaching English to French children ages 3-10 — its been extremely rewarding and I’ve had a great time so far,” she said. “I’ve found plenty of parks to run in here so training is going just fine.”
