Cornell Strikes In 10k; Brown Holds Lead

After a major disappointment involving injury to star Melissa Hewitt, things were looking a bit bleak for the Cornell Big Red. That was until the just-completed 10k where Big Red sophomores Kelsey Karys and Katie Kellner went 1-2 to give the team a late day resurgence.

Karys finished in 34:19.99, about 18 seconds ahead of her teammate, leaving her squad within striking distance of the scoring leaders on Sunday. Dartmouth freshman Caitie Meyer was a strong third (34:39.62) followed by Princeton senior Sarah Cummings and Penn sophomore Leslie Kovach.

Below are the scores from today’s action, but keep in mind that the number in parentheses indicate how many athletes from the school qualified into finals on Sunday. We think it is safe to say that tomorrow will be a barnburner in New Haven.

Team Scores
1. Brown, 48 (4)
2. Princeton, 44 (9)
6. Cornell, 26 (12)
3. Harvard, 26 (3)
4. Columbia, 23 (11)
5. Penn, 12 (9)
7. Dartmouth, 7 (4)
8. Yale, 0 (6)
