Closing It Out

The collegiate track & field season came to an end today in Des Moines, Iowa, and two more Ivy Leaguers took All-American notice.

Just a day after Dartmouth freshman Abbey D’Agostino threw her name into the mix in the convoluted world of the American junior 5k record, Princeton’s Donn Cabral and Ashley Higginson became All-Americans.

Cabral finished eighth in the 5,000-meter run today, finishing in 13:40.62, the fastest time by a Heps’ athlete since 2002. Higginson was sixth in the steeplechase, crossing the line in 10:03.15. Yet another Princetonian, senior Mark Amirault, was 12th in the men’s 5k (13:54.51).

Cornell senior Gary Jones competed in the triple jump, but did not record a mark after fouling on each of three attempts.
