Bahrain’s Maryam Yusuf Jamal has won the 1,500-meter run at the last two IAAF World Championships, but has been beaten more than once by Morgan Uceny this summer. Sabrina Yohannes of Runners World caught up with Jamal and asked her specifically about Uceny’s rise to prominence.
Said Jamal: “If there were women running 3:56, 3:55, 3:58, she would be finishing in 4:00something or thereabouts, but at this time since there aren’t many others, she has been dominant, but I don’t think it’s something I need to worry about too much for the World Championships.”
No she didn’t.
Yes she did. So Morgan, if you are out there, fire off a retort to us here. We are willing and able to stir up an international incident.
