Cornell grad Morgan Uceny is a World Championship finalist in the 1,500-meter run! Here’s the account of her semifinal from Big Red Coach Artie Smith:
With the top five in each semi-final heat advancing to the final, Uceny ran in the top half of the field throughout. Running on the inside of the group along the rail for the first two laps, she worked her way to the outside and out of any potential trouble before the real racing began, moving into the top five with ease in the last lap, crossing the line in 4:09.03, only a half-second behind the heat winner. The top five in the heat ran their last 400 in 59 seconds. In heat two, fellow American Jennifer Simpson also qualified for the final.
Also from Daegu, we have posted a piece from Samyr Laine about his experience thus far posted at ArmoryTrack.com. Laine has yet to compete as the triple jump begins on Friday.
Also, Erison Hurtault’s journey ended in the semifinals of the 400-meter dash. His time of 46.41 failed to qualify for the finals.
