Bob Hersh, a former track & field team manager for the Columbia Lions, is now the second-in-command of global track & field as the Senior Vice-President of the International Association of Athletics Federations. As the top vote getter among the vice presidents at the IAAF Congress, Hersh will replace Sergey Bubka as the President Lamine Diack’s official deputy.
A Council Member since 1999, Hersh has been active in track and field since his youth when he became the team manager at Midwood High in Brooklyn. After Columbia and Harvard Law School, Hersh became a track official and stayed extremely active in sport administration.
In addition to his service to the administration of the IAAF, Hersh also served as a stadium announcer at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Seoul, Barcelona and Atlanta. He has also long been of service to the Penn Relays as an announcer and member of the statistical crew.
