Yesterday when we said that six Ivy Leaguers were headed to the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., for next Monday’s cross country title events, we were lying.
Not counting what will go on with the at-large selections, we actually have nine folks. That’s because we aren’t going to forget about Mark Amirault, Claire Richardson or Adrien Dannemiller.
Amirault, who graduated from Princeton and now runs for Virginia, was third in the Southeast Region to qualify individually. Richardson, a Harvard graduate now at Georgetown, was the Hoyas’ third finisher (14th overall) at the Mid-Atlantic run, where her team won. And Dannemiller, a Cornell graduate now running for the Indiana Hoosiers, was the IU fourth man at the Great Lakes Regional, finishing 23rd overall. His Hoosiers were second as a team, behind national favorite Wisconsin.
Those three might be sporting foreign uniforms at the NCAAs next week, but they are all Ivy to us!
