The last rounds of competitions before Indoor Heps this upcoming weekend are complete. Cornell and Princeton hosted meets at their home facilities while Brown and Columbia got some last performances at the USATF New England Championships and NYU Division III Challenge. Some quick highlights and result links for each of the teams:
Brown: Hurdlers Susan Scavone and Jordan DeLoach finished 1-2 with new season best times of 8.53 and 8.69 respectively at the USATF New England Championships. John Spooney led the men’s squad with a win in the 60m with 6.95 while Brown went 2-3 in both the 800m and shot put.
Columbia: At the NYU Division III Challenge, Billy Kovalczyk finished in 1:04.22 in the 500m while the women’s 4×400 relay consisting of Yamira Bell, Uju Ofoche, Miata Morlu and Kyra Caldwell finished in 3:48.97.
Cornell: Frosh Stephen Mozia heaved the shot put an amazing 62-8 to win the shot put at the Marc Deneault Memorial Invitational. The throw was not only a school record, but it is also the third furthest throw in conference history and is less than a foot away from the automatic qualifying mark for NCAAs (63-6). Frosh Katie Woodford also broke a school record, this one in the 300m dash by winning the event in 39.11.
Princeton: Junior Richard Sheldon won both the 60 hurdles and the heptathlon, 8.10 and 5037 points respectively to led the men at the Princeton Invite while Tory Worthen continued to dominate in the pole vault (12-11.75) and Beth McKenna led a 1-2-3 sweep in the pentathlon for the women’s team.
