The early spring-time weather provided a good backdrop for the New York City Half Marathon on Sunday morning. Three Ivy Leaguers placed within the top 50 in both races: Lindsey Scherf (14th overall, 1:11.45) and Loretta Kilmer (27th overall, 1:14.50) in the women’s race, and Michael Cassidy (33rd overall, 1:07.22) in the men’s race. The races were won by Peter Kirui (59:39) and Firehiwot Dado (1:08.35) in what Letrsun called “head-to-head battles around Manhattan”. Click on the photo above to see more photos of the races.
Scherf commented about her race on her facebook fanpage: “I’m very happy with my progress being only 10 weeks back to training after recovering from recent surgery on my left foot. 3 months and counting to the start of the Olympic Track and Field Trials in Eugene, OR!!!”
