Sub-10 Steeple

Dartmouth’s Alexi Pappas — who has been overshadowed by Big Green standout Abbey D’Agostino this year — just shattered the Heps Championship steeplechase record in a time of 9:58.80. The old mark of 10:11.51 was set by Olympian Anna Willard Pierce, when she ran for Brown in 2006. Cornell did quite well for the team race in the event, taking second and third with Rachel Sorna and Genna Hartung.

Penn’s Maalik Reynolds defeated Cornell’s Montez Blair in an epic showdown in the high jump. Reynolds cleared 2.24 meters (7-4 1/4) while Blair got through 2.16 (7-1) before missing. As expected, Cornell claimed big points with a 2-3-4 finish. Chris Arlinghaus was third (6-9 1/2) and Tommy Butler fourth (6-8 1/4).
