Heps-Big East Challenge?

The USTFCCCA has released its weekly Division I rankings and it is worth noting that among the men’s conferences the Ivy League is ranked seventh behind only the BCS conferences of the SEC, Big XII, Big 10, PAC-12, ACC and Big East. And the Ivies are rather close to the Big East. In fact, Princeton (17) and Cornell (16) each have more regional qualifiers than any Big East team, while Columbia (13) matches that conference leader, Notre Dame.

New proposal for the indoor season. Conference challenge: Heps vs. the Big East. Each conference gets four individuals in a final. Score it like Heps, 10-8-6-4-2-1. Points go to the conference. Rivals become teammates. At least for a day.

Whose got some courage?

Weren’t you also proposing at one point of having the Big East and Heps do their multi-event competition at the Penn Relays, which is a week before their conference meets?

I like competition. And I like the concept of the Ivies facing the Big East. Indoor challenge AND the multi-event at Penn!

  3. John says:

Ivy League v Big East happened at the Armory in like 2005? 06? It was Penn, Princeton, Cornell against UConn, Seton Hall and …, Ivy’s won.

John… That’s the genesis for this, but I was thinking more like the best from all around the League going at it. Unseeded and unscored events in the morning and afternoon and then a big show in the evening. Could draw a spectacular crowd.

Would love to see this happen. ┬áIt’s always fun to pull for the league as a whole.

We scored the Heps vs Big East in the 1996 Olympic Trials, and the Heps dominated!
