Who Wants Coverage?

So, we have 22 members of the Heps Nation jetting off to Iowa for their shot at national attention and acclaim. We are already excited about what will unfold on Drake’s famous blue oval.

Here are your final ‘need-to-know’ information. Weather, for example. Wednesday and Thursday in the low 80s, slightly windy, 30 percent chance of isolated thunderstorms on Thursday. Chances of precipation pretty much dry up for Friday and Saturday, but it also heats up to around 90 each day (hydrate, hydrate!). The winds also kick up, particularly on Saturday.

Yes, we’ve been pushing our own Guide to the NCAA Championships (click here, and send to a friend), but what we are to Heps, the United States Track & Field Coaches Association is to college track & field. If you want the latest, don’t bother with the NCAA site, visit the USTFCCCA website instead. Tom Lewis does an amazing job with it.

Want to know what the experts think? Check out the Track & Field News form charts (men’s | women’s). Ten of the 22 Hepsters — including former Cornellian Adrien Dannemiller, now at Indiana — are projected to be top 10 finishers.

What if you want to watch? Well, the host’s website has a button for a free, live webcast. Woo hoo!

Another woo hoo! It looks like the NCAA Championship results will be headed by Cody Branch and Flash Results — the best damn timers in the world. Think I exaggerate? I don’t. You’ll see. If everything goes as planned, you can pay attention to the field events as they happen and we suspect you will see a lot of awesome splits as well. Here’s the daily breakdown:

Multi-events | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday | Saturday

And, finally, some self-serving links. If you care about track & field from the New York City region, here’s a story you may enjoy.

Also, our X-Mester fellows report to Indianapolis a week from Wednesday (June 13) and two of those folks are competing this weekend. Here at HepsTrack World HQ, we will be cheering loudly for Maryland’s Zack Ray in the 400m hurdles and Bucknell’s Lenny Joseph in the hammer. I am kinda claiming them for Heps Nation this weekend. Also, the USC Trojan athletics website showed X-Mester a little love today! Check it out. Peter Yobo is no small man!
