Three of the top four shot putters in the Ivy League right now are freshmen: Cornell’s Stephen Mozia (Outdoor Heps champion, second Indoors), Harvard’s Ben Glauser (Indoor Heps champion, second Outdoors) and Harvard’s Igor Liokumovich (fourth Outdoors, fifth Indoors). These throwing three will have one more chance to battle head-to-head in the shot put as freshmen this weekend, as all three of them will be competing at the USA Track and Field Junior National Championships.
This championship is open to all athletes who are USATF members between the ages of 14 and 19, and have qualified before June 10th. The championships will be held in Bloomington, Ind., at the Indiana University campus beginning Friday and ending on Sunday. The top performers from this weekend will be able to compete as Team USA at the World Junior Championships in Barcelona, Spain. July 10-15. The national championship schedule can be found here.
