Dolan To Penn?

The Daily Princetonian has reported that Steve Dolan — who led the Tigers to unprecedented distance success in recent years — is leaving Old Nassau and that the university is already advertising for his replacement.

Sports editor Kevin Whitaker wrote that rising junior Alejandro Arroyo Yamin confirmed that Dolan had accepted a position elsewhere.

It looks like that position will be as the Director of Track & Field at rival Penn. Expect Dolan to oversee the entire men’s & women’s track & field program with Robin Martin remaining as the men’s coach. Gwen Harris left the women’s program this summer and last week Blake Boldon, who oversaw both distance programs, was named the executive director of the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon.

If this happens — in combination with taking ‘interim’ off of Martin’s title — it will signify that Penn Athletics is making track & field a priority for the years to come.

Well, Steve’s a good guy (and a great coach)–I wish him well.
But why couldn’t it be somewhere besides Penn?
