Early this morning, Croatia’s first female Olympic marathoner Lisa Stublic competed in the streets of London under mostly cloudy (and some rainy) conditions. Stublic started off in the lead pack and by the halfway point, she was in ninth place (due to the pack racing, her half-marathon time was the same as the leader, 1:13:13). However, the pace quickened and Stublic could not keep up. She finished the race in 2:34.03, good enough for 52nd overall out of 107 finishers. Her personal best is 2:30.46 that she ran last year. The marathon was won by Tiki Gelana of Ethiopia in 2:23.07, which is a new Olympic record by 7 seconds.
