Does Oregon Await?

After her fall at the Olympics, which resulted in a back injury, Morgan Uceny has opted to bring a close to her 2012 season. But Princeton graduate Donn Cabral marches on.

He finished well behind the leaders in his first Diamond League meet in Lausanne on Thursday, but he will tee it right back up in the steeplechase at the next DL stop — in Birmingham, England, on Sunday. The field is not nearly as large and deep as Thursday’s race, but we expect him to have a higher finish this time around.

In addition to talking to Flotrack on Thursday, Cabral was featured by Bob Nuse and Justin Feil in the Princeton Packet on Friday morning. He discussed the next steps of his career.

”I haven’t made a final decision on coaching and where I’ll be located yet,” Cabral told the pair. “All signs so far point to the West coast, or more specifically the Pacific Northwest. For the eight years I’ve been running, I’ve improved a rung or two on the track and field hierarchy all but freshman year at Princeton. With consistent training, albeit heavier, and consistent focus I have no doubt I’ll reach a higher level shortly.”
