News from around the Heps Nation, which is monitored day and night by Mary Boggs!
• Congrats to former Dartmouth star Alexi Pappas — now running at Oregon — who was selected as one of nine finalists for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award.
• By the way, off the top of our collective HepsTrack heads, Pappas is the only female Ivy grad still running in college. Of course, Columbia’s Kyle Merber and Princeton’s Trevor Van Ackeren and Joe Stilin are all down at Texas. And we just confirmed that former Princeton star Mark Amirault will run cross as well as indoor and outdoor down at UVa. Are we missing anyone? UPDATE: Rick Marshall at Brown has let us know that Dan Lowry is on the cross country roster at Michigan. UPDATE 2: Matt Miner, the Dartmouth grad, is on the cross roster at Oregon.
• Couple of school news features — Cara Costich in the Cornell Sun and George Dickson in the Daily Pennsylvanian. Dickson on the transition to Coach Steve Dolan — “It’s been surprisingly smooth. I think everyone’s really excited for coach Dolan to come here, and so far, he’s brought a lot of excitement to the team.”
• And some bad news to report. Adele Jackson-Gibson is hanging up her Yale uniforms after tearing her ACL as the team’s soccer goalie. She has been a Heps’ scorer in the sprints and the long jump in recent years and this news brings us down in an otherwise happy report. Adele, have a quick recovery and we will miss you.
