The Heps alums are at it this weekend. At the Great North CityGames in Newcastle and Gateshead, Anna Pierce (Brown) took third in the mile run, finishing in 4:36.44 ahead of U.S. Olympians Jenny Simpson and Shannon Rowbury.
Bernard Lagat won the men’s mile while Liam Boylan-Pett (Columbia) was back in seventh (4:11.06). Check out the gallery of images to see the venue in which this was contested.
In another amazing venue — Manhattan’s Central Park — Princeton graduates went 1-2-3 in the NYRR Fitness Women’s Games four-mile run. Reilly Kiernan won in 23:02, ahead of twin sisters Catherine and Caroline Mullen. NYRR head honcho Mary Wittenberg tweeted the above photo of the Tiger trio. Kiernan is on the right. Only because of the shirt, I am guess that to be Catherine in the middle. If I am wrong, call me out in the comments!
And tomorrow in the streets of Providence will be the CVS Downtown 5k, which serves as the USA 5k Championships. There are a number of Ivy Leaguers in the chase there, including last year’s champion Ben True (Dartmouth), David Nightingale (Princeton), Lindsey Scherf (Harvard), Stephanie Pancoast (Cornell) and Ashley Higginson (Princeton). RunnerSpace.com caught up with True in a preview to the event.
