HepsXC — Harvard Women

Morgan Kelly by Tim O’Dowd

Harvard Director of Track Jason Saretsky has stated that one of the women’s team strengths is the interchangability of their top five runners. When you look at the team results, there is no clear front runner as a different woman has led the team in each race. Perhaps this is part of the women’s distance coach Priscilla Bayley’s game plan?  Senior Briana Jackucewicz (Howell, N.J.) is finally having a healthy season and she started it off with an individual and team win at the Bryant Invitational. Senior Sammy Silva (La Mesa, Calif.) did not compete at Heps last year, but has performed well here in the past.

Juniors Morgan Kelly (San Francisco, Calif.) and Emily Reese (Chamblee, Ga.) have both been praised by Saretsky for their improvements this season, particularly in terms of stepping up at the high-intensity invitationals. Sophomores Alaina Alvarez (Dana Point, Calif.) and Viviana Hanley (Attleboro, Mass.) and rookie Selena Pasadyn (Hinckley, Ohio) have the potential to score for the Crimson as well. There have been some rumors around the Ivy running scene that this team could edge out both Princeton and Columbia this weekend… Can they do it? — Mary Boggs
