Yale coaches David Shoehalter and Paul Harkins as well as Fairfield Coach John Sagnelli have toured the cross country course at the Hammonasset Beach State Park and declared it ready for Friday’s NCAA Northeast Regional.
We reported some concern last week when the official at the park told us the course was underwater and debris made it difficult to assess, but the coaches’ visit put to rest the concerns.
Wrote Coach Harkins, who posted the photo above on Twitter, “There is some standing water and a few trees down in the park, but not on the course. Hammonasset will be operational by early next week and the course is unaffected by the storm.”
Teams from Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard and Yale will be there on Friday while Penn and Princeton will head to the Blue & White Golf Course at Penn State University in State College for the Mid-Atlantic Regional.
Both regionals feature the women’s race at noon followed by the men’s race at 1:15 pm.
