Grooming For The Weekend

As you can see, Harvard thrower Dustin Brode is donning a Wyatt Earp throw-back mustache for the Harvard Crimson & White intrasquad meet today in Cambridge, Mass.

A look around the weekend’s schedule shows that Dartmouth is hosting its 44th annual Dartmouth Relays starting today and running through Sunday. The activity focusing mostly on high school events today and Saturday and then the college and open events on Sunday.

Now even though nothing is listed on Columbia’s schedule, we did notice that All-American Sharay Hale is entered in the 500m dash at the NYC Gotham Cup at The Armory today at 4:35 pm. This is her first time back on the track in a year-and-a-half after a hip injury. Scheduled to run in that race as well are Latavia Thomas and World Junior 800m champ Ajee Wilson.

Also going on tonight, the Princeton women will compete for the first time in 2013 as they host a quad meet with St John’s, St. Joseph’s, and Rutgers.  According to the Princeton Sports Media, live results will be available once the meet starts at 5pm.

On Saturday, the other five schools will compete. Penn and Princeton men will join 14 other teams for the first NYRR College Night at the Races at The Armory. That event will be live streamed at Yale hosts the primarily in-state Yale Invitational at Coxe Cage in New Haven while Brown ventures to the Sorlien Invitational in Kingston, R.I., and Cornell joins the Northeast Challenge at Penn State.

One final race to watch will be the final heat of the men’s mile at the University of Washington Indoor Preview at the Dempsey Center in Seattle. Donn Cabral, Princeton’s Olympic steeplechaser, is entered with Galen Rupp and Matthew Centrowitz and could break four minutes on the track for the first time. Rupp’s reps have suggested that the Olympic silver medalist in the 10k is ready to run around 3:50!
