Wrapped, Yet Ready

I don’t recall seeing a runner as heavily bandaged as Columbia senior Sharay Hale was at the Armory Collegiate Invitational last week. Yet to run an individual race, she ran on the Lions’ 4x400m relay at that event. Despite some understandable fear, she posted her best performance since returning from hip surgery.

Sharay finally ran individually on Friday, in the championship section of the 400m at the Rider Lafayette Winter Classic at The Armory. First race back, she won the thing, clocking 55.75 in the process.

It would seem like maybe too big a battle for her to return to her 2011 times — when she was running in the 52s — but her battle has already been won. She is back and faster than the competition.

Congrats, Sharay!

I believe that Sharay will get back to those 52’s as she has had no speed training while rehabing her hamstring. I think, no pun intended it is just a matter of time before she returns to her old form
