Peter Callahan hammered home the final lap of the men’s distance medley at the NCAA Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., tonight to give the Tigers the first relay national championship for the Ivy League since 1975 (Princeton men’s two-mile).
“These guys (Michael Williams, Austin Hollimon and Russell Dinkins) did a great job setting me up,” said Callahan. “I got the stick in third and wanted to tuck in for the first 800. I just tried to stay out of trouble. I am blessed and thankful to bring a title back to Princeton.”
“The whole school,” said Hollimon, who ran the race’s fastest 400m leg (46.35). “We believe in Pete.”
