The Ivies had a great Day 1 at the Penn Relays. Cornell’s Rachel Sorna won her first Penn Relays watch by claiming the title in the College Women 3,000m Championship is 9:20.36, a new outdoor personal best. Sorna is the 3rd Ivy runner to win this event (Princeton’s Liz Costello in 2008 and Yale’s Lindsay Donaldson in 2005). Yale’s Nihal Kayali (4th – 9:29.39) and Cornell’s Genna Hartung (5th – 9:32.42) also finished in the top 6 of the event.
In terms of relays, Columbia and Princeton gave exciting performances in the College Women Distance Medley Relay Championship of America. Columbia finished 3rd in 11:07.68 while Princeton (Alexis Mikaelian (3:24.8), Cecilia Barowski (54.3), Kacie O’Neil (2:08.8), Greta Feldman (4:42.2)) finished 4th in 11:10.13.
