Last year we thought we were doing pretty darned well when Heps sent 21 athletes* and an alum to the NCAA Championships in Des Moines. [*Note that it should have been 22, but Princeton's Conor McCullough was deemed academically ineligible just before the team departed for Iowa.]

This year the Heps Nation has blown away any expectations. Here is the final tally: 27 individuals plus two alums and two relay teams. Around these parts we count up all those entrants for a total of 31. Plus Cornell’s Stephen Mozia qualified twice. Final tally: 32.

Use your own count however you like. If we simply tally all the athletes headed to Eugene, Ore., in two weeks, it comes to 35 (24 men, 11 women). We suspect that all this is a record, but we really don’t have data on entries. We just think this is a lot. We will have a story up about what transpired on Saturday soon, but in the meantime, here is your 2013 Heps’ NCAA roster:
