Adam’s Gold

Nine years overdue, but Adam Nelson finally got his gold medal from the 2004 Summer Olympic Games.  The Dartmouth graduate was upgraded from the silver medal after Ukrainian shot putter Yuriy Bilonoh was determined to have used performance enhancing drugs during the 2004 Olympics.

Nelson received his medal in the mail yesterday, sharing the above photo with this tweet:

The silver medal will not collect dust in one of Nelson’s closets – Nelson mailed out the silver medal to Danish thrower Joachim Olsen once Nelson received his gold medal.

Congratulations to Nelson, Olsen, and Spain’s Manuel Martinez (bronze medalist) on finally receiving their proper Olympic medals.
