Go West, Young Runners

ht-midwest

Due to the success at that the Ivy League had two weekends ago, we now have six nationally ranked squads across the men’s and women’s USTFCCCA polls.  These rankings still hold true for this weekend’s action, even though the Columbia women, who were just outside the top 30 rankings, won their 16th-straight Metropolitan XC Championships last weekend in a dominating fashion.  (Congrats, Lady Lions.)  With all of these rankings on the line, many teams will be participating in some invitationals this weekend that Flotrack is calling “the biggest XC weekend EVER!!!”

At Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, In., action kicks off at 11am EST where the #10 Princeton, Cornell, Penn, and Yale men will compete in the men’s blue race.  The  #27 Princeton and Penn women will begin their race at noon EST.  In the race preview, Isaac Wood of the Wood Report/Flotrack highlighted #27 Princeton’s Megan Curham and Emily de la Bruyere as individuals of note in the women’s competition (as of the time of this blog post, there has not been any individuals of note for the men).

Meanwhile, more teams have a more westerly race direction as four of the League’s nationally ranked squads are flocking to Madison, Wis., for the Wisconsin adidas Invitational.  The #8 Columbia, #27 Dartmouth, and Harvard men are lining up Saturday noon EST, while the #11 Dartmouth, #15 Cornell, Columbia, Harvard, and Yale women will start running at 1pm EST.

There will be some weekend action on the East Coast as Princeton and Brown will be hosting their own invitationals.  Princeton will be hosting their Princeton XC Invitational on Saturday at the West Windsor Fields, and Cornell, Harvard, and Penn will be sending their runners there to get a good preview of the Heps Championship course.  Women race at 10:30am and the men race at 11:15am.  Brown will be hosting the Rothenberg Cross Country Invitational at Goddard Memorial State Park in Warwick, R.I. today.  Dartmouth will be joining Brown for the 3pm start.

Flotrack will be providing live coverage of both Pre-Nationals and the Wisconsin adidas Invitational on Saturday through their Flotrack Pro service.  Details on accessing Flotrack Pro can be found here.

As always, HepsNation, feel free to share the love of these meets online, either through Twitter or on facebook.
