Less than 18 hours until the first national championship races go off. And out of all of the media coverage at NCAAs, Flotrack is probably one of the most interactive ones between the athletes and the fans.
Earlier today, they released their pre-race show (filmed Thursday, sponsored by Saucony), where they invited Ivy alumni/Saucony athletes Ashley Higginson and Ben True for their favorite Terre Haute memories and thoughts on individual winners, top freshmen, and underdog status athletes (to name a few). But Alex Lohr made a great comment about the athletes and weather: “People who use weather as an excuse are not legit, you’re probably not a contender out there.” My question – where did they get those shades? There will be a second pre-show tomorrow morning (which we are assuming is going to be live) where it looks like Flotrack, Higginson, and True will share more of their picks.
What we CAN guarantee will be live tomorrow – a web stream! NCAA will be providing a free live web stream for each of the cross country national championships tomorrow (D1, D2, AND D3). You might want to get there early (not like Black Friday early) to make sure your computer and internet connection can handle the live feed.
Until then, we recommend you do two things before tomorrow morning:
1) Vote for the Ivies representatives in the annual “Stachies At Nashies” contest on Flotrack! As of tonight, Dartmouth’s Will Geoghegan and Penn’s Thomas Awad are representing HepsNation in this contest. You can still sign-up, BUT sign-up and voting close on November 23rd at 11:59PM (a.k.a tomorrow night), so get busy.
2) Just because the athletes made it to nationals does not mean they know the other contenders, particularly in the opposite gender’s race. Flotrack interviewed a number of athletes last night at the championship banquet, asking them their picks for individual or team titles. And not even the Ivies are immune… You have to see it to believe it.
