We love our alumni as much as we love our undergraduates.
Alexi Pappas (Dartmouth ’12) had only begun to blossom by the time she had graduated from Dartmouth last year. With both cross country and indoor track eligibility remaining, she decided to run for Oregon while starting her graduate studies. She was integral to the Oregon Ducks winning two national titles last year. She finished 8th at the 2012 NCAA Cross Country Championships . At the 2013 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, she finished 8th in the 3,000m (9:12.38) and 6th in the 5,000m (15:47.13). During the outdoor season, she was recognized more for her teammate cheers and fashion sense while competing unattached. She now trains with the Oregon Track Club.
Ben True (Dartmouth ’09) might not had the year he originally hoped to have, but it was still quite a successful year. He started the year on a high note with a 6th place finish at the 2013 World Cross Country Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland, propelling Team USA to the podium with a 2nd place team finish (besting the Kenyan team in the process). His real goal of the year was to make it onto Team USA for the 2013 IAAF World Track and Field Championships in either the 5,000m or 10,000m, but unfortunately, he finished 4th in both events at the USA National Championships. He received a lot of credit from track fans for not only sticking with the distance double, but picking up the pace in the 5,000m with about 1500m to go in order to make it a real race. He ran a new personal best in the 5,000m (13:11.59) in July at Heusden, Netherlands.
