There is a story we neglected to share last week with HepsNation that was brought to our attention by website reader Aaron Krohn.
Back on January 24th, when Dartmouth’s Abbey D’Agostino was racing the invitational mile race at the Boston University Terrier Invitational, she set her first NCAA record. She broke the indoor collegiate 1500m record of 4:10.20 that was set by Tina Krebs of Clemson in back in 1985 by running a 4:09.77 en route to her 4:28.31 mile finish. The Lancer Timing results showing the 1500m splits is shown below.
Event 11 Women 1 Mile Run
BU Record: M 4:24.14 2008 Kim Smith, Reebok
Name Year Team Finals
1 Cain, Mary Nike Oregon Project 4:24.11M 1500m-4:06.63
2 D’Agostino, Abbey Dartmouth 4:28.31 1500m-4:09.77
3 Hasay, Jordan Nike Oregon Project 4:28.37 1500m-4:08.66
4 Browning, Charlotte Ragged Mount 4:33.80 1500m-4:15.17
Right now, she’s in contention for earning NCAA berths in the mile, 5,000m, and as a part of Dartmouth’s distance medley relay. She has yet to race a 3,000m this indoor season. She has previously either won NCAA titles or All-American honors in the 3,000m, 5,000m, and the relay. Would she want to grab mile honors as well?
Thanks for the information, Aaron (and sorry for the delay in sharing).
