Better reserve a plane, Ivy League.
The NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship qualifiers were announced yesterday, and 15 individuals and 2 relays have declared that they will compete at NCAAs on March 14th and 15th in Albuquerque, N.M..
Dartmouth’s Abbey D’Agostino will be a busy woman that weekend. She will attempt to defend her 3,000m and 5,000m titles while adding on the distance medley relay. D’Ag is the top seed in both of the open events. Dartmouth’s Megan Krumpoch will also be doubling as she is a part of the open 800m field as well as the Dartmouth’s DMR squad.
Two men will also be doubling at NCAAs: Harvard’s Maksim Korolev is entered in both the open 3,000m and 5,000m races while Columbia’s John Gregorek is entered in the open mile and listed as a member of Columbia’s DMR.
Four Ivy Leaguers qualified in the open mile: conference record holder Will Geoghegan, conference champion Steve Mangan, Gregorek, and Michael Williams. This is a phenomenal feat considering how the mile is getting harder to qualify for now – the last qualifier ran a 3:59.23, and he was ranked 18th in the country.
