Just a quick newsflash before a detailed recap tomorrow, as we need a reason to celebrate tonight.
Penn got multiple champions at their Penn Relays today, with senior Maalik Reynolds claiming his second title in the College Men High Jump Championship and sophomore Thomas Awad broke the 4 minute/mile barrier en route to winning the Olympic Development Mile in 3:58.34.
Reynolds last won this event when he was a freshman, where he had jumped the winning height during one of the USA vs the World relay events. This year, Reynolds won with a height of 7-02 1/4.
While many members of the Penn track and field staff and teams were ecstatic, but HepsTrack heard rumors that Penn and Ivy League mile record-holder Denis Elton Cochran-Fikes was present for the win and was crying tears of joy on Awad’s win. Cochran-Fikes was on hand to give Awad his relays watch.
A full recap of the Saturday Penn Relay events will be up on Sunday afternoon.
