It was amazing to see her name listed in the entries, but Dartmouth’s Abbey D’Agostino proved that she can too race a 10km.  She won the event in her first instance of contesting it, running 33:10.38 and winning it.  The time is the 3rd best ever in conference meet history, and #6 in the Ivy League recordbooks.

She was pushed throughout the race by Princeton freshman Megan Curham, who ran a new school record of 33:24.79, which also makes the recordbooks.  It’s #4 in conference meet history and #8 in Ivy League history.

Cornell went 3-4-6, led by Rachel Sorna in 33:36.46.

In the men’s 10km, (I’m going by why I’m reading on twitter right now) it was a pack of 4 men with 3 laps to go.  Harvard’s James Leakos made his move with 2 laps to go, which strings out the lead group… but Penn’s Thomas Awad stays with Leakos and within the final 100m, Awad passes Leakos to win his first ever Heps title (and REAL title this time – there is only 1 heat of the men’s 10km!), 29:26.13 to 29:26.83.  According to Kyle Merber on twitter, Awad’s final 4 laps were in 3:58.  Yale’s Kevin Dooney secured 3rd place in 29:29.92.
