This past weekend, we posted the Indoor Heps schedule up on this website. It provides details on the number of preliminary rounds for the Heps-contested events (FYI – only two rounds now for the short sprints as there never has been enough athletes to warrant three rounds) and how the FIVE new events blend into the schedule.
Website reader: Wait, didn’t you only announce four new events earlier this year?
Yes, we did. But there is something new on the schedule that might pique the interest of some alumni.
On Sunday, March 1st, the Ivy League and Friends of Harvard Track and Field will be co-hosting the Alumni/ae Mile Challenge on the indoor track before the start of Day 2 of the Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Championships. Racing will start at 10:30am, and depending on the number of alumni that sign up, there could be multiple heats that are based on seed times or age.
ALL IVY ALUMNI ARE WELCOME TO SIGN UP! That’s the only sign-up requirement at this time. You can pre-register (and the League and FOHTF highly recommend you do so in order to get can accurate participation count and plan out the number of heats accordingly) by
emailing Leslie Golemme signing up at the following link with your name, school, and graduation year by February 27th. Otherwise, you can sign up the day of the race, starting at 9:30am.
Now, go find some running shoes and make your way up to Cambridge (and allow some extra travel and parking time, as they have a bit of snow up there). Share the news with your friends or other alumni! Come and support your school at Indoor Heps! Hope to see you on the track!
