Where the Men Stand

da-mile-start

It’s amazing on how quickly this winter has gone by, but it always feels so rushed when February rolls around.

The Indoor Heps Championships are only 3 weekends away.  We still have plenty of action remaining this season before our HepsWeek coverage begins, but we wonder “how is the conference looking as we enter this high octane portion of the season?”

And so, we present to you, our “Halfway Heps” snapshot.

I have tallied up the scores for this “Halfway Heps” meet, based on the event rankings as seen on the Track and Field Results Reporting System website thru this past weekend(which has converted a lot of marks to sea-level, banked 200m track equivalents – notes on which marks are converted and their original performances are included).  Using the converted marks does make a bit of a difference in the scoring projections, as many marks between the 200m and 5,000m races were done on flat tracks at Barton Hall and Leverone Field House.  Since Indoor Heps will be held at Barton Hall this year, we show the original flat marks for comparison, but the scoring is all based on the converted results.

Heps scoring is for the top 6 finishers in an event (10-8-6-4-2-1). I included all events, including thin rankings for the 5,000m and relays, and I did not even try to guess if the doubles shown in these rankings would come to fruition. Also behind the cut are the top-10 performances in the conference to date, where I used the top-6 results for the scoring.  We have also noted any previous champions, record marks, or nationally ranked performances.

And so, the results of the “Halfway Heps” and the performance listings are…
