Charging Into the Outdoor Season

Two more Ivy schools will be making their 2016 outdoor season debuts this weekend, while other schools are saying “bring it on” to higher caliber competition.

UPDATE: we’ve received word that all Ivy teams will be in action this weekend at varying capacities.

Columbia kicked off the weekend competition and their outdoor season yesterday at the Stony Brook University Quad Meet against Stony Brook, La Salle, and Providence in Stony Brook, NY.  Don’t worry – you didn’t miss all of the Lion action for the weekend as select members of the team will be joining Brown, Dartmouth, and Harvard at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, NC.  The Raleigh Relays begin today at 10:30am and will continue to Sunday.  Start lists are available and you can watch the meet online through Flotrack.  Otherwise, you can follow the meet through the Flash Results live results website.

Another meet where you can watch the Ivy action online will be the Penn Challenge.  The Quakers will be hosting Army, Manhattan, Rider, Villanova, Sacred Heart, and UConn at Franklin Field tomorrow.  You have two ways to watch the meet – one: through Flotrack, and two: through the Ivy League Digital Network.  Action will start at 1pm.  If you can’t watch the meet, you can follow the live results website through Leone Timing (start lists are also available on this page).

Cornell will be opening up their 2016 season today at the UC Riverside Spring Break Classic in Riverside, CA.  To follow the meet, it appears you will need to download the mobile app found at this link.

Harvard will be keeping some of their athletes closer to home this weekend as they are scheduled to compete at the UMass Lowell Invitational in Lowell, MA.  The competition will feature athletes from Stonehill, Vermont, Hartford, and hosts UMass Lowell.

The Princeton men have off, but some of the women will be competing.  The Lady Tiger throwers will head to nearby West Long Beach, NJ to participate in the Monmouth Invitational.  Meanwhile, Allison Harris will attempt to improve her positioning in the pole vault record books at the UNF Spring Break Invitational in Jacksonville, FL.

Although it was not included on the team schedule’s shown on Yale Athletics’ website, Yale will be making their season debuts out in San Diego at the Point Loma Nazarene University Collegiate Invitational on Saturday.  Starting lists are available, and like the UC Riverside Spring Break Classic, live results will be available through Finished Results.  Thank you to Bob Ramsey for the information!
