Spring, Where Are You?

It appears that the spring outdoor season has not yet hit all regions that make up the Ivy League conference.  The picture above is of Cornell’s Kane Athletic Complex from this past Tuesday.  Sure – many areas of the Northeast got snow this past weekend, but the cooler temperatures have not allowed that snow to melt.  As a result, Cornell will be moving their first home outdoor meet on Saturday to inside Barton Hall – renaming the meet “Cornell April Cabin Fever Indoor Invitational“.  Not quite sure how to incorporate any potential record breaking marks from that meet yet, but we’ll figure it out as the need arises.

But the other Ivies will be staying outdoors for their meets this weekend.

Almost all of the schools will be represented at the Sam Howell Invitational at Princeton’s Weaver Stadium.  Details on the schedule, heat sheets, and live results are available through GoPrincetonTigers.com.

Meanwhile, Penn and Columbia will be heading to Charlottesville, VA on Friday to battle Virginia and Maryland at the UVA Quad Meet.  This will be a scored meet.  Penn will stick around for some additional action on Saturday at Virginia’s Lou Onesty Invitational, while Columbia will be traveling to Rutgers University for the Metropolitan Championships.

Dartmouth is also scheduled to head down to Virginia this weekend, but to Fairfax County instead to the George Mason Spring Invitational.

Harvard could be travelling the furthest distance of all Ivies this weekend as they will be sending some of their athletes to Miami, FL for the Hurricane Alumni Invitational.  The meet is available to view on ESPN3.

Yale and Brown will be sticking closer to home, as Brown will trek to Yale’s house for the Mark Young Invitational on Saturday.
