Kayaking — Men

Harvard’s Norman Bellingham is the owner of the only gold medal won by an Ivy Leaguer in canoe & kayaking. Bellingham competed in three Games and won his medal at the 1988 Seoul Games in the K-2 1,000-meter race.

In all, nine athletes from the League have competed in four different games, but Yale’s Jamie McEwan won the only other medal from the League. He took bronze in the slalom singles to beat out two Dartmouth kayakers in 1972. In all, seven Leaguers competed in kayaking in the 1972 Munich Games. Cornell’s Benjie Lewis made the League’s most recent appearance in Athens ’04.
