Soccer — Women
Dartmouth’s Kristin Luckenbill earned the first gold medallion in women’s soccer, as she was named to the victorious American squad that went undefeated in six games, besting Brazil, a team that would become the main nemesis of the U.S. in the final, 2-1. While Luckenbill did not get playing time in the Olympics, she was the first Ivy League graduate to play with the squad, and the first Dartmouth graduate to win a spot on any Olympic soccer team.
Princeton grad Diana Matheson — who suited up for the Canadian team in Beijing — will do the same in London.
