Synchronized Swimming — Women

In 2004, the Ivy League sent its only competitors in the event as Kendra Zanotto and Lauren McFall — both in the Class of 2008 at Columbia — represented the United States and secured a bronze medal in the process. Four years later Zanotto was set to work as an expert analyst for the Olympic News Service at the 2008 Beijing Games, but her visa application was controversially refused. The reasoning was believed to be a result of her affiliation with Team Darfur, an athlete-driven group that called attention to the crisis in western Sudan.
